The Great Thanksgiving Escape

When Matt and I got married, I told him he could have ALL the holidays he wanted with his family with one exception - Thanksgiving. Every year since before I could remember, Thanksgivings were ALWAYS spent at my grandma’s house and the joy felt from that holiday was consistent year after year. Interestingly, it wasn’t until my adult years that I learned my Grandma and her immediate family just barely escaped Nazi Germany with their lives days after Kristallnacht, landing in America just before Thanksgiving.

Even at twelve years of age, and after arriving in America with almost nothing from her previously privileged life in Germany, she knew she had a lot to be thankful for. We felt that gratitude every year at Thanksgiving. And, it's something we still feel every year at Thanksgiving.

My grandma even made her graceful exit just before Thanksgiving in 2012, bringing everyone she brought joy to together for Thanksgiving to celebrate the end of her life. She would have LOVED the party we’re heading into at my parent’s house this week.

So, as we head into the most grateful day of the year, I have to express my gratitude. So many of you have commented on how you have enjoyed my writing, enjoyed hearing my thoughts about the market, enjoyed working with me, and or just enjoyed connecting with me. And, I am so f-ing grateful that I get to have these experiences with you!! Thank you!

Happy Thanksgiving!
